Lynx

Robotic weld inspection

Inspection that keeps up with the robot.

Manual visual inspection cannot follow the pace and volume of robotic welding. Lynx® measures weld geometry with the robot itself and keeps a record of every seam.

Overview

Robots weld consistently. Consistency still has to be verified.

Fit-up variation, wire and gas issues or a worn contact tip change the weld without changing the program. Lynx® brings measurement into the cell, so deviations are found at the seam where they happen, not at final inspection or at the customer.

Lynx® is a weld inspection product for robotic MIG/MAG welding. A robot-mounted sensor measures weld geometry online, within the production cycle, or offline, and records the result for quality monitoring and traceability.

How it works

From a laser line to a quality record

Lynx® builds on the inspection technology developed for Quantum®.

Scan

A robot-mounted profile sensor scans the finished weld along the seam.

Capabilities

Inspection where the weld is made

01

Online inspection

Measurement integrated in the production cycle of the welding cell.

02

Offline inspection

Inspection outside the production cycle, at a dedicated station.

03

Geometric weld inspection

Profile-based measurement of the weld bead and its relation to the joint.

04

Quality traceability

Per-seam records that link inspection results to parts and programs.
